Your data is likely to be very important to you. If your hard drive should crash, are your prepared with backups? If you are the average computer user, then the answer would be "no". The fact is most people don't backup their data regularly enough. When a problem does arise, your data may be lost for good.

If it's not possible, you will not be charged. If the data can be recovered, then you can decide which data you would like to be copied from the drive.
